Ledgers of accounts of the State Treasury, 1825-1926.

This series serves as the record of final entry of accounts of the State Treasury. The ledger records receipts and disbursements to and from the various accounts that comprise the State Treasury. Among these accounts are the account for salaries of the General Assembly, Convict Dept. accounts, and various revenue accounts of the various counties. The ledgers from 1866 to 1884 record both the receipts and disbursements in the same volume. After 1884 the receipt and disbursement accounts are kept in separate volumes. Typical entries include the date, nature of transaction, to whom paid or from whom received, and amount of transaction. An end of year recapitualtion of all accounts is recorded in the published annual report of the State Treasurer. Most of the ledgers contain an index to the accounts.
